Design Engineer – (Mechanical) Full Time

Open Position – Design Engineer (Mechanical)

Locations – Bangalore

Reporting to – AVP Battery Production

Key Responsibilities:
– Responsible for the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems for lithium-ion battery cells, modules, and packs used in RAILWAY and automotive application. The position covers both concept and production stages, including CAD design, analysis, prototyping, manufacturing support, and process improvement.
– Design mechanical enclosures, structures, mounts, and integrate battery management system and harnessing using CAD tools.
– Plan and execute prototype builds, develop jigs and fixtures, collaborate with suppliers, and prepare drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
– Define and execute verification plans, support mechanical tests (vibration, drop, crush, penetration) for cells, modules, and packs, and prepare test reports.
– Work with cross-functional teams (thermal, electrical, manufacturing, quality) to address pack architecture, cooling, sealing, fastening, and assembly processes.
– Lead or contribute to product risk assessments and root cause analysis to improve design robustness and reduce failure modes.
– Implement improvements to production equipment, safety protocols, quality, and documentation.
– Maintain compliance with internal procedures and relevant industry standards.

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
– Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and drafting (e.g., SolidWorks or CATIA) and documentation.
– understanding of FEA analysis and analytical methods for mechanical assessments.
– Demonstrated ability to support prototype builds and production, including collaboration with manufacturing and quality teams.
– Strong communication skills and task ownership throughout the design process.
– Use of CAD and PLM tools for models, drawings, and BOM management.
– Application of FEA, tolerance analysis, risk assessment, and problem-solving methodologies.
– Experience with prototype and test workflows, including fixture design and technical reporting.

Skills & Experience:
– 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design and manufacturing, ideally with electromechanical or energy storage products.
