Job description
Role & responsibilities
Role Objective
As a Lead Electrical Engineer for Headlamps, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle development of intelligent lighting solutions. You will translate optical requirements and styling themes into high-performance hardware, ensuring that our “Vision Systems” are robust, compliant, and technologically superior.
1. Hardware Design & Power Electronics (The Core)
LED Driver Topology: Design and optimize DC-DC converter topologies (Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, SEPIC) specifically for high-power LED strings and Matrix arrays.
Schematic & PCB Layout: Execute multi-layer PCB designs (High-Density Interconnect – HDI) focused on signal integrity, power distribution, and minimizing parasitic inductance.
Component Selection: Conduct rigorous trade-off studies for MOSFETs, Inductors, and Driver ICs, balancing efficiency, cost, and automotive grade (AEC-Q100) requirements.
Worst-Case Analysis (WCA): Perform circuit simulations using PSpice/LTspice to ensure performance over end-of-life (EOL) and extreme temperature swings.
2. Communication & Smart Lighting (Intelligence)
Protocol Integration: Develop communication interfaces for CAN, LIN, and High-Speed Ethernet to allow the headlamp to communicate with the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) and ADAS sensors.
Matrix/ADB Logic: Implement hardware support for Adaptive Driving Beams (ADB) and Pixel Lighting (Micro-LED), enabling dynamic masking and “glare-free” high beams.
Firmware Collaboration: Work closely with Embedded Software Engineers to define register maps and hardware-software interfaces (HSI) for lighting control algorithms.
3. EMC, Thermal & Reliability (Validation)
EMC/EMI Mitigation: Lead the design for Electromagnetic Compatibility to meet CISPR 25 Class 5 standards. Implement filtering, shielding, and layout techniques to pass radiated and conducted emission tests.
Thermal Management: Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers on active and passive cooling strategies. Design specialized thermal vias and metal-core PCBs (MCPCB) to manage high-flux LED heat dissipation.
Functional Safety (ISO 26262): Develop hardware in accordance with ASIL-B or ASIL-C requirements, including failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) and diagnostic coverage for “light-out” detection.
Technical Requirements (Summary)
Education: BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics.
Experience: Minimum 5+ years in automotive ECU design, specifically within lighting or high-power modules.
