Role

Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Battery & Battery Management System Engineer

Responsibility
Understand electrical architecture of HEV/EV
Conceptualization, Layout, Design and Development of HEV/EV Lithium Ion Battery pack
Define HEV/EV Battery Management System (BMS) architecture, Electrical System Architecture related to battery
Requirement engineering of Battery (Spec. Determination) & BMS functions and software. Control algorithms such as battery controls, battery SOC, SOH estimations, cell balancing, battery life optimization, safety related controls, configuration of BMS, cell characterization, energy calculation, thermal management
Work with HEV/EV system team to identify the BMS electrical interfaces, calibration and testing team to generate battery system DVP
ISO 26262 compliance for BMS, DFMEA
Adopt model based design approach in BMS
BMS Controls Software Verification and Validation
Functional Testing, System/Component Benchmarking
Cost & Weight Optimization through VA/VE and Benchmarking
Coordination with other design departments/ suppliers & related agencies for design and development Activities
Technical/Functional

Competency Requirements:
Working experience of battery management system & control engineering
Working experience of BMS hardware/software design, configuration and testing (HILS, bench, Vehicle etc)
Model Based Design, experience with Matlab Simulink/State flow
Working experience of Lithium Ion battery design, child part development and testing
Knowledge of types of cells/modules, chemistry, electrical characteristics, battery packs architectures etc.
Knowledge of safety and test standards of Lithium Ion traction battery
Experience in testing at pack level (battery cycler) and vehicle level testing
Educational Qualification
B.E / B. Tech in Electrical Engineering/ Electrical & Electronics / Electronics & Communication
