BMS Engineer Salary in India — What Companies Actually Pay

BMS engineers are the single most supply-constrained specialism in India's EV industry. The pay reflects that — but the bands vary based on whether you're on the hardware or firmware side, and which kind of company you work for.

BMS hardware engineer

Hardware engineers design the cell-sensing AFE, isolation barriers, MCU board, protection circuits. Strong layout discipline matters. Bands: ₹8-12 L entry, ₹14-25 L mid, ₹25-50 L senior, ₹50-80 L lead.

BMS firmware engineer

Firmware engineers implement state estimation (SOC, SOH, SOP), cell balancing, ISO 26262-compliant safety mechanisms. Tight memory budgets reward careful C engineering. Bands: ₹9-14 L entry, ₹16-28 L mid, ₹28-60 L senior, ₹60 L-1.4 Cr lead.

Algorithm engineer

Pure algorithm engineers (Kalman filter, extended Kalman, advanced ML-driven SOH estimation) are rarest of all. Mid-career bands sit at ₹28-50 L, senior at ₹50 L-1 Cr.

Which companies pay the most

Venture-funded battery / BMS specialists (Ion Energy, Vecmocon, Exponent Energy, Log9 Materials) and 2W OEMs (Ather, Ola) pay at the top of these bands plus meaningful ESOPs. Tier-1 suppliers (Bosch, Continental) and established OEMs (Tata, Mahindra) pay closer to the median with stronger benefits and stability.
