EV industry events are where careers accelerate. A single conversation with the right Head of Engineering can short-circuit a 6-month job hunt. Here are the events that matter and how to work them well.
Marquee events
- Bharat Mobility Global Expo (biennial, Delhi) — every major Indian OEM is there
- EV India Expo (annual, Delhi) — heavy on charging-infra + Tier-1
- Bengaluru Tech Summit — software-side EV companies
- ARAI Symposium — research-side conversations
- ChargeUP Summit (annual) — charging-network operators + policy
- SIAM Annual Convention — auto-industry strategy + policy
Pre-event prep
- Identify 10-15 specific companies and 20-30 people you want to meet
- Connect on LinkedIn beforehand with a specific reason ('I'll be at Bharat Mobility Expo — would love to ask 2 questions about your charging-infra roadmap')
- Update your CV to a single-page version printed on good paper
- Charge two phones (battery anxiety is real at busy expos)
- Wear something professional but plant-floor-comfortable
At the event
- Visit your priority 10 booths in the first half-day
- Note one specific thing about each (product, hire announcement, partnership) for follow-up
- Speak with at least 3 different people at each — recruiters, engineers, product
- Collect contact info systematically (LinkedIn QR codes work better than business cards)
Within 48 hours
Send a personalised follow-up to every person you spoke with. Reference the specific conversation. Attach a relevant project if it makes sense. The follow-up matters more than the original conversation.
Where to go from here
Industry events are exhausting but high-leverage. Pick the 2 events per year most relevant to your track, prep thoroughly, and follow up within 48 hours. One good event can deliver 6-12 months of warm-network outreach.
