LinkedIn Strategy for Aspiring EV Professionals

Most LinkedIn profiles are forgotten. Here's how to build one that recruiters actually find and engage with for EV roles.

Recruiters at every major EV company in India use LinkedIn as their primary sourcing channel. A well-optimised profile gets 5-10x the recruiter messages of a default one. Here's the playbook tailored to EV careers.

Headline — your most-read 220 characters

Don't use 'Software Engineer at XYZ'. Use 'Embedded engineer | BMS firmware | ISO 26262 | building safety-critical battery systems'. Recruiter searches match on these keywords. Be specific.

About section — the 200-word hook

Lead with what you do, why it matters, and what you're looking for. Avoid generic statements about being passionate. Include 2-3 specific projects with numbers, a sentence on your domain (battery / motor / charging / software), and a clear closer ('Open to senior BMS firmware roles at battery-startup or OEM scale').

Experience — outcomes not duties

Each role: 1-line context + 3-5 bullets of measurable outcomes. 'Reduced BMS bring-up time from 3 weeks to 4 days by automating HIL test suite' beats 'worked on BMS firmware'.

Featured + projects

Pin 2-3 projects to your profile — Simulink model, GitHub repo, conference talk, published article. Recruiters scroll only the top fold; what's pinned matters most.

Activity — post once a week

  • Share a project you shipped
  • Comment on a top engineer's post in your domain
  • Repost an industry report with a 3-line summary
  • Ask a substantive technical question

Skills + endorsements

List the top 10 skills relevant to your target role. Get colleagues to endorse the top 3. Skip the long tail — recruiters filter on the first 5 only.

Where to go from here

Spend 4 hours optimising your LinkedIn this weekend and 30 minutes per week posting + commenting. Within 90 days you'll start getting inbound recruiter messages from EV companies you actually want to work at.
